What is the Dr. Weightloss IPF Program?

Intelligent Prescriptive Fitness

The Intelligent Prescriptive Fitness (IPF®) program is Premier Fitness’s proprietary operating system that is used to create exercise programs specific to each of our members in every Premier/Mademoiselle Fitness Club.

Developed by Premier’s founder John Cardillo, the IPF® System has been employed as Premier’s operating system for the past 25 years. During that time, over one million members have achieved extraordinary results using this program. The IPF® system is made up of five distinct protocols, and is used in the programming for every member.

The IPF® system includes:

  • Physical and diagnostic assessments
  • Stretching, pre-stretching and warm-up
  • Scientific high-intensity workout program
  • Cardiovascular training
  • Quarterly reassessments

IPF® is an unparalleled, thorough, member-oriented system that is not found in any other fitness clubs. It involves an accredited fitness professional (kinesiologist) conducting each protocol with you, the member. As a member, once you have undergone all five of the IPF® protocols, you will be fully informed as to your present health and physical condition, and then prescribed the program that will help you achieve the results you seek.

Unlike most health clubs, where newly signed-up members are left to try to get in shape with little or no guidance or support, at Premier/Mademoiselle, as part of our IPF® program, one of our fitness professionals will supervise each exercise session to ensure that you exercise properly and achieve your ultimate fitness goals. The IPF® program is performed in a studio setting using 26 of the best exercise machines available on the market today.

GETTING STARTED

Your next visit to the club is your required fitness assessment. We recommend that you refrain from exercising until after this assessment. The results of your fitness assessment and your quarterly re-assessment will be recorded in our database and kept in your confidential personal history file in our Health Centre. They will be available to you, your doctor or your insurance company at any time.

STEP 1 FITNESS ASSESSMENT

When you arrive at the club, please check in with the receptionist and advise her that you are here for your fitness assessment. After changing into your workout attire, proceed to the Health Centre where you will meet with your kinesiologist. The assessment will take approximately 90 minutes.

STEP 2 PERSONAL EXERCISE PROGRAM (IPF)

On your next visit to the club, your personal trainer will take you through your personal exercise program, teaching you proper exercise form and technique, and setting the weight you are to use for each exercise. All that is required are two properly performed 40-minute workout sessions per week. Your future workouts can be set by appointments if a trainer is required, or you may come in as your schedule allows.

STEP 3 NUTRITIONAL CONSULTATIONS (IPN)

As part of this comprehensive program, we will provide a thorough nutrition consultation for you. Proper nutrition makes up the other half of the fitness equation that complements the demands put on your body by the introduction of your new exercise program. One of our nutrition counselors will review of your eating habits and in accordance with your desired fitness/weight loss goals, we will determine your daily required allowance of calories, carbohydrates, protein and fats. After we determine the amount of food you should consume on a daily basis, you have the option of allowing us to create a personalized meal-by-meal eating plan that will enable you to lose body fat, gain lean muscle and help you achieve your goals in a set timeframe.

STEP 4 FOLLOW-UP ASSESSMENTS AND CONSULTATIONS

On a quarterly basis (every 13 weeks), our Health Centre receptionist will call you to schedule a follow-up assessment. Each assessment will be similar to your first one; we record and compare the results of your previous assessment. Based on the progress you are making, we will adjust both your fitness and nutrition program to help you continue to make progress. Re-assessment is an important part of keeping you motivated. Measuring the results of each 13-week workout span is the greatest indicator of the positive results that our IPF/IPN Program produces.

IPF EXERCISE PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

Proper exercise is 50% of the component required to ensure that we can help you to achieve your desired results. Our IPF Program that we advocate is based on the principal of high-intensity, low-volume exercise. We believe that by exercising using our method, two to three times per week for 45 to 60 minutes per workout, you can achieve better results than if you were to exercise for longer periods of time using the wrong program. Our personal trainers will teach you all of our IPF exercise principles, which include:

  1. Proper stretching techniques before workouts to prevent injuries
  2. Proper exercise form, technique and body posture
  3. Proper breathing during the positive and negative part of each exercise
  4. When to increase resistance, and by how much
  5. How to exercise with high intensity techniques
  6. How to perform cardiovascular exercise properly for fat-burning or to increase heart and lung capacity
